Welcome to 2019 and the approach to another Formula 1 season.
It seems like every year we talk up the approaching season and how great it’s going to be, only to sometimes be let down. But this year I really am excited and feel that we could be in for a belter of a season.
There are no major technical changes from last year, more just tweaks, but there have been so many questions thrown up from 2018 and with only a handful of weeks until testing starts, it won’t be long until we get some answers.
Will the changes to the regulations make a difference? Will we have more overtaking and close racing like we’ve all wished for?
Leclerc has made his move to Ferrari, but how will his pace compare to Vettel’s, and what will Ferrari do if he is faster? Will there be a fall out between the drivers if he is? How will Vettel have improved from the errors that cost him hugely last season?
Do you think Mclaren will get any form of a revival? Will they finally have a car that is any where near competitive again?
Similarly for Williams, will they fight back to the mid-field after falling to the tail end last season?
How will Red Bull fare with the Honda engine? Will Gasly be a success in a top 3 team, and will he cause any troubles for Verstappen?
We have new drivers on the grid in Russell, Norris and Albon. Will they be able to compete and cause some of the more senior driver’s problems?
How will Robert Kubica’s comeback season go?
Will Renault fix the problems that plagued their engines last year and make gains to challenge the top teams? Will Ricciardo’s move prove to be a stroke of genius or a failure?
There is so much for us all to find out, and I’m sure we’ll have plenty more to discuss throughout the year.
Not only is it a big year for Formula 1, but also for The NRF1 podcast. We have a lot planned for 2019 with reaching out to a greater audience as well as the usual regular podcasts discussing and debating all the latest news and views from all across the world of Formula 1. Make sure to get involved and keep up to date with all the latest by following our social media sites (twitter and facebook), and get special rewards by becoming a patron through our patreon page.
Happy New Year, and here’s to a great 2019.
